How do I download a surah?
Tap the download button (the arrow) next to the surah on a reciter's page or on the Surah of the Day card. To download a reciter's whole mushaf, choose Download the whole Mushaf on their page. The app downloads five surahs at a time, and you can pause and resume.
Can I listen without internet?
Yes, for recitations you have downloaded. Recitations you haven't downloaded, live radio and tafsir text need an internet connection.
How do I manage downloads?
Open Downloads from the downloads button at the top of Home or from Library. In Settings → Downloads you see the space used and available, and find Manage Downloads and Delete All Downloads. A whole-mushaf download won't start if there isn't enough space.
Why is a download waiting for Wi‑Fi?
Download over Wi‑Fi only is on by default in Settings → Downloads, so downloads don't use cellular data. You can turn it off, or choose Download Now Using Cellular for a waiting download.
How do I change the reciter?
Pick any reciter in the Reciters tab and play what you like. To change the reciter used when you don't pick one (such as for the Friday Al-Kahf reminder), go to Settings → Default reciter; you can also choose a preferred riwayah. Add the reciters you like to your library with Follow on each reciter's page.
How do playlists work?
Choose Add to Playlist from the … menu next to any surah, or create a new playlist from there. Your playlists are in Library → Playlists.
How does iCloud Sync work?
Turn it on in Settings → Sync; you need to be signed in to iCloud on your devices. Your library and preferences move between your devices; downloads and listening statistics don't. If the iCloud account on a device changes, sync stops by itself until you turn it on again.
Why does tafsir need internet?
The app shows tafsir texts directly from Quranpedia when you request them and does not store them on the device, so tafsir isn't available offline.
How do I turn on reminders?
In Settings → Reminders, turn on the Daily wird or the Friday Al-Kahf reminder and choose the time. The app asks for notification permission only when you turn one on. If you declined before, turn it on in your device's Settings → Notifications → Sawt Al-Quran.
If a recitation won't play
- Check your internet connection if the recitation isn't downloaded, or download it to listen without interruption.
- Check the volume and the output device (headphones, AirPlay or Bluetooth) in Control Center.
- If a radio stream drops, the app shows that the broadcast was interrupted; play it again once you're back online.
- Close and reopen the app. If the problem continues, email us from Contact Us so your device information comes with the message.
